Company Directors — Confirm your ID with Companies House
Linda · June 2025
Companies House have joined HMRC in the 'let's add more rules' game. Changes are being introduced from Autumn 2025 that will affect every company director — so, if you are a company director, this means you.
Under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, all existing and new directors (and People with Significant Control) must verify their identity with Companies House. This is part of the wider push to improve the reliability of the public register and tackle economic crime.
There are two routes to verify: directly via GOV.UK using a Companies House account, or through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) such as your accountant. Either way, you'll need photo ID and to confirm some personal details.
If you'd like a hand getting this sorted before the deadline, give us a shout.
